02/TILE

Tile

A tile roof is one of the longest lasting options for sloped roof applications with proper maintenance. Most tile roofs are either clay or concrete, each with their own characteristics. Clay tiles will not fade over time and offer a timeless Spanish style. Concrete tiles come in a larger variety of shape/color to mimic the look of slate, wood, or clay. As opposed to clay, the color of concrete tiles will fade over time. A high quality underlayment and consistent maintenance are crucial for a tile roof.

03/FLAT

Flat/Low-Slope Roofs

The 3 main flat roof systems installed in California are PVC, TPO, and Torch Down. Both PVC and TPO are ‘rubberized’ sheet membranes that are installed using a hot air welder. These roofs are most often white and offer exceptional energy savings (through reflectivity) and warranties. The main difference between PVC and TPO is lifespan and cost. A PVC roof will typically be slightly more expensive and last 5-10 years longer.

Torch down roof systems are asphalt based and installed using an open flame to melt the layers together. These systems have been installed for nearly 100 years and are often less expensive. The functional lifespan of a torch down roof will be less than a PVC or TPO roof system.

PVC: 25+ year lifespan

TPO: 20+ year lifespan

Torch: 12+ year lifespan

Energy efficient (PVC & TPO)

04/METAL

Standing Seam Metal

Standing seam metal is perhaps the most bulletproof type of roof you can install, boasting a 50+ year lifespan with little to no maintenance. This modern looking material is durable, lightweight, and fire-resistant. The main drawback on a standing seam metal roof is cost. It can run almost twice as much as a shingle or tile roof system.

05/COATINGS

Roof Coatings

Roof coatings are used to protect and extend the life of an existing roof system. Typically made of either Acrylic or Silicone based materials, it is applied in multiple layers over the roof surface. Depending on the amount of layers installed, a roof coating can extend the life of your roof by 10+ years.
